A clearer decision
starts with five questions.

Think of one decision. Reflect on its supporting relationships. Leave with a checklist of what to examine next.

How do I examine the system behind my decision?

Start with the result you need, what it depends on, who can act, the evidence behind your assumptions, and what happens if a dependency fails. For a worked example that also examines incentives, see the sales and operations decision.

This is a reflection exercise, not a scored assessment or professional recommendation. Your responses stay in this page and disappear when you reload it.

1. What result do you need?

Can you describe the intended outcome and how you would recognize it?

2. What must work for it to happen?

Consider people, information, money, time and outside providers.

3. Who can make the necessary decisions?

Identify who can approve, change or stop the commitment.

4. What supports your assumptions?

Think about current records, direct observations and what remains untested.

5. What happens if a dependency fails?

Identify who notices, who responds and which alternative is available.
